This protocol was designed to address common oral contraceptive-induced nutrient depletions. Beyond drug-induced depletions, it offers additional considerations when treating menstruating individuals, such as supporting healthy iron levels, elimination pathways, hormone metabolism, and microbiomes.

Foundational support

VitaSpectrum® Powder by Klaire Labs

Supplementing with a multivitamin/mineral may help maintain healthy vitamin (e.g., B vitamins, vitamin C) and mineral (e.g., magnesium, zinc) levels, which are often negatively impacted by oral contraceptive use.

Dosing: Mix 1 scoop into 8 oz (1 cup) of water or liquid of your choice. Take with food.

MegaPre Precision Prebiotic by Microbiome Labs 

Supplementation with a prebiotic formula can help support a healthy and diverse microbiome.

Dosing: Mix 1 scoop into 16 oz (2 cups) of cold water or liquid of your choice. Take with or without food.

Additional support

Iron Bisglycinate NSF by Thorne

Supplementing with iron may help maintain healthy iron and ferritin levels in menstruating individuals.

Dosing: Take 1 capsule once per day with food.

UltraFlora® Women’s by Metagenics

Supplementation with multistrain probiotics may help support the health of the gastrointestinal and urogenital microbiomes.

Dosing: Take 1 capsule once per day with food.

PhytoGanix® by Metagenics

Supplementation with greens powders may help increase vitamin and mineral intake. In addition, formulas containing milk thistle, turmeric, and green tea extract may also help support hormone metabolism and the body’s natural elimination pathways.

Dosing: Mix 1 scoop into 8 oz (1 cup) of water or liquid of your choice.
