Though our organization includes deep technical and strategic expertise, as well as an in-house medical team, we know we don’t have all the answers. We lean heavily on collaboration and frequently seek counsel from integrative and functional medicine leaders and our community.

With that, Fullscript is thrilled to announce the Fullscript Medical Advisory Board and its esteemed members:

  • Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, MD
  • Dr. Jeffrey Bland, PhD, CNS
  • Dr. Joseph Pizzorno, ND
  • Dr. Robin Berzin, MD
  • Dr. Cheng Ruan, MD
  • Dr. Jeffrey Gladd, MD

Why this board matters

The Fullscript Medical Advisory Board is a guiding body of healthcare pioneers assembled to help shape our company with strategic direction and support the medical community with innovative education for practitioners.

The board will help Fullscript develop new product lines, treatment focuses, platform features, and more. They will empower practitioners by helping us innovate our industry-leading platform with world-renowned insight and expertise.

We’re honored to share our mission with prominent figures in both the scientific and business fields of medicine. We’re eager to learn from such legendary innovators, and we’re grateful to help amplify their voices.

Members of the board

There are six members on the board: three trailblazers who have paved the way for integrative and functional medicine, two rising stars leading a new era of digital healthcare, and a health technology innovator who now serves as Fullscript’s Chief Medical Officer. Each member has unique experience, achievements, and acumen that will enact real, positive change in the medical community.

Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, MD

Dr. Low Dog began exploring natural medicine over 35 years ago and has become an internationally recognized expert. She was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy and has served as the Chair of the Dietary Supplements and Botanicals Admission Evaluation Sub-Committee from 2010-2020. Dr. Low Dog has been a speaker at over 550 scientific and medical conferences, and an author of 54 peer-reviewed articles, 24 chapters for medical textbooks, and five books. She’s a bridge between the old world and the new world — a leading medical doctor, but also a traditionally trained herbalist. An academic, but also a clinician. Dr. Low Dog is a visionary and one of the most influential, but relatable figures in integrative medicine.

Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, MD Fullscript Collective
“I always ask new patients to bring their supplements with them to our appointment, and many arrive with a bag full. They’re often unsure what they do, how much to take, or if their supplements are even working. Contrary information is everywhere, leaving both patients and their practitioners confused. That’s why I’m happy to support Fullscript’s quality and education program to help our patients make sense of it all.” – Dr. Tieraona Low Dog, ND

Dr. Jeffrey Bland, PhD, CNS

Dr. Bland has been an internationally recognized leader in nutritional medicine for over 35 years. He’s known as the father of functional medicine, renowned for his ability to take complex scientific concepts and make them personable and accessible. With his wife, Susan, Dr. Bland founded the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) in 1991. In 2012, he founded the Personalized Lifestyle Medicine Institute (PLMI), a nonprofit educational organization based in Seattle, WA. As a founder of IFM — one of the most influential functional medical teaching institutions of the past 20 years — Dr. Bland has earned the respect of his field and is the glue connecting conventional medical academia with functional medicine.

“I’ve seen firsthand that the efficacy of supplements is more a function of manufacturing or quality control than of active ingredients. Fullscript is meticulous in its quality assurance and products offered, and I look forward to supporting their advocacy for patients and practitioners.” – Dr. Jeffrey Bland, PhD, CNS

Dr. Joseph Pizzorno, ND

Dr. Pizzorno is a naturopathic physician, educator, researcher, editor-in-chief of PubMed-indexed IMCJ, and founding board member and current chair of the board of the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). He’s also a founding board member of American Herbal Pharmacopoeia, and a member of the science boards of the Hecht Foundation, Gateway for Cancer Research, and Bioclinic Naturals. He was appointed by Presidents Clinton and Bush to two prestigious government commissions to advise the President and Congress on how to integrate natural medicine into the healthcare system. Dr. Pizzorno was also the founding president of Bastyr University and has helped steer education in all fields of medicine for over 40 years. With his long list of accolades, he’s easily the most well-known naturopathic doctor of our generation.

Dr. Robin Berzin, MD

Dr. Berzin is the founder and CEO of Parsley Health, a membership-based concierge functional medicine clinic network with a national telemedicine offering. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she completed medical school at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and trained in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She’s the embodiment of functional medicine, bringing a new wave, high-tech entrepreneurial spirit to the field. Dr. Berzin has seen tremendous success with Fullscript and continues to use it in her practice.

Dr. Cheng Ruan, MD

Dr. Ruan is board-certified in internal medicine and is the founder of the Texas Center for Lifestyle Medicine. The center was recently designated a Diabetes Center of Excellence, the only clinic receiving such designation in Houston, TX. He’s leading the development of an innovative insurance-based functional medicine practice, taking advantage of new CPT codes launched as recently as January 2020. His mission is to prove that all doctors can practice functional medicine within existing insurance models. Dr. Ruan represents a new era of primary care healthcare practitioners that use highly sophisticated systems, patient tracking, lab testing, and personalized treatment plans. Dr. Ruan actively uses Fullscript in his practice and advocates for its contribution to a more accessible functional healthcare system.

“Fullscript is my first introduction into a platform that allows me to empower my patients. For too long, the only gift that a doctor can give their patients is in the form of a prescription pad. Fullscript provides an automated system of engagement that not only facilitates engagement but also can open up conversations that can save someone’s life. The unique model also allows further education and discussions not taught in medical school and residency. It also allows for continued pursuit into the world of integrative medicine.” – Dr. Cheng Ruan, MD

Dr. Jeff Gladd, MD

At the helm of the board is Dr. Jeff Gladd, MD, Fullscript’s Chief Medical Officer. As the former Medical Director of the Parkview Center for Integrative Medicine and founder of GladdMD Integrative Medicine, Dr. Gladd brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Fullscript’s internal medical team. Shortly after graduating from the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Gladd launched the well-known nutrient depletion tool, Mytavin.com. He currently serves as an advisor to numerous health tech companies and will help steer Fullscript to become an indispensable tool to the medical community.

“It’s an honor and pleasure to work alongside such prominent figures in both the scientific and business fields of medicine. On behalf of myself and all of Fullscript, we are eager to learn from such legendary innovators and share their knowledge with practitioners.” – Dr. Jeff Gladd, MD

What’s next for the board

The board will meet with Fullscript’s leadership team on a regular basis, providing guidance on platform direction, education, business development, logistics, and more broadly, how Fullscript can best serve the healthcare community.

Composed of pioneering academics and innovative entrepreneurs, the board will provide valuable mentorship for the entire organization. Their understanding of the ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’ at the point of care is unmatched, and we are excited to harness their knowledge for the betterment of our platform and the medical world.

We proudly welcome all members of the Medical Advisory Board to the Fullscript team!

This is a wonderful panel of physicians. As a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and a practitioner of integrative medicine, having access to Fullscript has supported my ability to treat my patients with more efficacy.
I would love to see my profession represented on this panel as Oriental Medicine has demonstrated its approach to be respected in Integrative Medicine Treatments. Thank you for your consideration.

I agree with Dr Pauline Torrey – This is a fantastic line up of doctors who have been powerful leaders in the field of medicine. However, I would love to see more diversity on Fullscript’s board, such as Acupuncture, MSOM, another Naturopathic Doctor, Chiropractors, and other disciplines that capture the whole picture of who we as health care providers. Thank you for creating this board, and thinking beyond today, but please do look more closely at who we are as providers. I am grateful for what Fullscript has provided for my patients and for my practice – you have truly contributed to my ability to effectively treat my patients, as well as keep my business doors open so I may be of more service to others.

Fantastic! I am so thrilled to be a Fullscript user and this “line-up” is just wonderfully comprehensive. I echo the above…would love to see other disciplines too at some point as there are many PA-C’s (and other APPs and more!)who are well-versed in integrative and functional medicine. Everyone truly does play a role in this approach to medical care.
