Berberine is a widely used botanical extract that has gained attention for its potential to support gastrointestinal health, blood sugar balance, and more. Yet, its complex sourcing and processing make it especially vulnerable to potency inconsistencies and contamination. (Singh 2019) This is particularly relevant given berberine’s dose-dependent activity and use in metabolic support protocols.
As part of the Fullscript Quality Program, our medical team selected berberine products distributed by Fullscript to test for potency claims.
We tested berberine products via Alkemist Labs for potency label claims using a 100% methanol extraction method via high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
While research has shown that many berberine supplements sold online fall significantly short of their stated potency, all Fullscript-tested products met or exceeded the quality benchmarks defined by the Fullscript Medical Team.
