Automated requisitions

For Quest Diagnostics labs, patients receive a digital requisition form within minutes of checkout. They are notified by an email linking them directly to the form in their Fullscript portal.

For specialty labs, requisition forms arrive inside their test kits, pre-filled with all the necessary patient, provider, and test details—with a streamlined form that removes the signature and payment sections for faster completion.

For specialty labs that require a blood draw, we can connect your patients with mobile phlebotomy services like GetLabs or help them find local providers familiar with handling specialty lab draws if your team does not have a preferred option.

What kind of support can my patients expect from the team at Fullscript?

Our world-class customer success team is here to assist your patients through the logistics of the testing process – available by phone, chat or email to meet their communication preferences. However, as your patient’s provider, you and your team will continue to be your patient’s clinical resource providing any additional instructions, interpreting results, and scheduling follow-up consultations.

What billing options are available for me to choose from for testing? 

Our goal is to offer a range of billing options for cash-pay lab testing to support your practice’s preferences and workflows. When you recommend labs on Fullscript, you’re never locked into a single billing method. Choose the option that best fits your needs, with the ability to change this per order.

Our cash-pay billing options include:

  1. Patient pay: Fullscript bills your patient for testing. You can choose to have the patient complete this step via their Fullscript account or use the in-office checkout option.
  2. Practitioner pay: You pay upfront for testing, and handle billing with your patient separately with no test pricing disclosed to your patient on the platform.
  3. Custom fees: Fullscript bills your patient for the cost of testing, plus an itemized additional service fee set by you that is collected on your behalf when the order is placed and paid out to your account once results are available.

What forms of payment are accepted for lab testing? 

We accept credit cards from all major companies like Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. Patients can also choose to pay with digital wallet payment options or their debit cards if optimized for online purchases.

At this time, we’re focused on building the best cash-pay testing experience. Currently none of our testing is reimbursable with insurance, including retroactive reimbursement through a Superbill or through an HSA/FSA card. We’ve marked this clearly on the patient’s PDF receipt so there’s no confusion.

When do patients have access to their test results? 

Patients will be notified by email that their results are available once you review and share them. Patients have access to their health data as soon as the labs release results, but they will not receive an email notification until you share the results from your Fullscript account.

As the provider, you will receive an email notification as soon as test results become available with a link to view them in your Fullscript account.

How can I stock test kits in my office and provide them to my patients in-person?

We’re actively developing a labs management solution for practices that prefer to stock their specialty test kits in their office or provide phlebotomy in-house to better support lab testing for every workflow. If you’re interested in early access to this feature, please reach out to our team at labs@fullscript.com.

What happens if there are issues with the testing, or my patient needs to recollect? 

We’re here to help your team efficiently identify and resolve testing related challenges like specimen issues and incomplete tests to keep your patients’ testing on track. When an incomplete test or specimen issue is identified, our labs support team will send you an email notification and begin resolving the problem. Fullscript proactively handles these issues directly with the labs and coordinates any next steps.

If your patient needs a recollection kit our team will manage that process, ensuring your patient receives a replacement kit with tracking while keeping you informed at every step of the way.

What do patients need to complete on their requisition forms? 

For Quest Diagnostics testing, the digital requisition form is ready within minutes of payment in your patient’s Fullscript account and is pre-filled. Patients only need to schedule their blood draw using the link provided, or walk into a Quest location.

For specialty testing, the requisition form included in the test kit is mostly pre-filled with the patient’s demographics, your information and the testing details. Our custom requisition forms are designed so that patients only need to fill in testing-related information, such as the sample collection date, eliminating the need for signatures or confusion around payment sections.

Can I add a personalized message or instructions with my patient’s testing? 

Yes. We encourage you to include a personalized message with custom testing instructions or when applicable to recommend a preferred phlebotomist you want your patients to use. Your patient will receive this message at the top of their testing plan, ensuring they can follow your specific recommendations.

Do patients have access to the full testing catalog in their patient account? 

No.  Patients will only be able to view and choose from the testing you’ve recommended in your plan. Patients will never have access to search or order from the Fullscript catalog of testing options, even if you have the “open-dispensary” feature turned on for supplements. Only providers can access the labs catalog and choose which testing to recommend to their patient.
