Folate-5 Plus™

Folate-5 Plus™ supplies calcium folinate, along with vitamin B12 and the antioxidant enzymes SOD and catalase. This high potency folate product is appropriate when significant supplemental folic acid is warranted. Adequate folic acid levels may reduce a woman's risk of having a child with neural tube defects. Folate has other beneficial actions as well. For example, adequate folate status is correlated to the expression of proteins involved in the activation and regulation of immune function. The synthesis of the neurotransmitters dopamine, epinephrine and serotonin also require folate as a cofactor. Folate deficiency may also result in reduced DNA methylation, which can cause chromosomal instability and increase mutation events. Folic acid is also important in maintaining healthy homocysteine levels.
