While medications can be an effective way to treat conditions — they can also quietly deplete important nutrients. These losses can fly under the radar and have real clinical consequences. We want to make it easier to spot and action these potential depletions, so we added this functionality into Fullscript Assist, offering decision support that flags potential deficiencies caused by a patient’s medications — directly inside your workflow.

What’s New: Personalized Depletion Flags, Right in Your Plan-Writing Workflow

When writing a supplement protocol for a patient, it should be quick and easy to add products that may address medication-induced depletions. We heard that providers were relying on memory (and there are a lot of medications out there!) or turning to external websites or tools to check.

We made it easier to:

  • Spot nutrient losses
Fullscript Assist will surface potential nutrient deficiencies linked to your patient’s reported medications, based on what they’ve added to their currently taking — it’s personalized, meaning no toggling, and no additional manual research.
  • Assess relevance fast
Each insight includes a severity rating and strength of evidence, helping you decide what’s clinically important for your patient.
  • Act in seconds
Assess and add relevant supplements to your plan directly from the insight — it’s all part of the Fullscript plan-writing experience.
  • Look up any medication
If your patient hasn’t uploaded their medications but you’ve gathered that info during an appointment or from another source, you can also quickly search for depletions by medication using the Fullscript Assist tool. The evidence source is NatMed, so you get a trusted database right at your fingertips. This is also handy if you’re doing general research.

Why It Matters

Even seasoned providers may not know every potential depletion, and researching them slows care. This tool surfaces those insights fast and at the moment when you want them. They’re easy to action and are sourced from trusted evidence. It’s not about replacing your expertise — it’s about providing context, research, and options to accelerate your decision making.

Built to Support Whole Person Care

This release is part of our ongoing investment in tools that support whole person care — a model that helps providers consider the full picture of a patient’s health, current routine, and lifestyle while making recommendations or refining treatments. And because it’s built into Fullscript, you can move seamlessly from insights to supplement plans in one platform.

Nutrient Depletions are pulled directly from the NatMed database and have been reviewed by Fullscript’s Medical Advisory Team to keep you aligned with trusted clinical research.

The Bottom Line

The Nutrient Depletions Checker helps you pinpoint hidden gaps in care by revealing when a patient’s medications may be causing nutrient losses. With severity indicators, evidence grades, and direct links to research — all embedded within your plan-writing workflow — this tool lets you act quickly and confidently to personalize care. No more toggling between tabs or worrying that you’ve missed something. Fullscript Assist provides actionable insights and more streamlined research to help you build more supplement plans in less time and ensure your patients get the care they need based on the medications they’re already taking.
