The supplement problem most people don't know about

Supplements are regulated as food rather than drugs, so oversight differs from prescription medications.In both the U.S. and Canada, most oversight happens after a product is already on the market, not before. That leaves room for products with inaccurate labels, missing or incorrect ingredients, or even contamination to reach store shelves.

Fullscript exists partly to close that gap. We do the vetting up front so the products your provider recommends have already cleared a high bar.

Every brand is vetted before it's ever offered

We don't add just any brand to our catalog. Before a brand makes it in, it has to pass a detailed review covering things like:

• How and where its products are manufactured
• Whether its facilities meet Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)-- the industry's core quality standard
• How it tests for contaminants like heavy metals and microbes
• Its quality assurance policies, recall procedures, and lab documentation

Only brands that meet high manufacturing standards make it into the catalog. Many go further and carry independent third-party certifications for their products, which we encourage. And vetting isn't a one-time check at the door — brands have to maintain their third party cGMP certifications and keep meeting our standards to stay in the catalog.

New products get a closer look, too

Starting in 2026, every new product added to the catalog is reviewed by our Quality Assurance and Medical teams. They check the label and lab paperwork to confirm the product contains what it claims and is free of contaminants, verify that the label claims will be met until the expiration date, and review the formula and dosing to make sure it makes sense.

We test products even after they're on the shelf

Every quarter, we pull up to 150 products directly off our warehouse shelves and send them to independent, accredited labs. These labs test each product for contaminants like heavy metals and microbes" or "tested for quality and purity. Products that pass are tested to confirm label claims and screened for contaminants. They then earn our Fullscript Tested badge, so you can spot them as you shop.

It's a spot check that keeps brands honest long after they've joined the catalog. Products that fall short are investigated, and any with serious safety or potency concerns are removed.

Careful storage and shipping

Quality doesn't stop at testing. Our independently certified distribution centers keep shelf-stable products in temperature-controlled spaces and store heat-sensitive items like probiotics and certain omega-3s in refrigeration, with temperatures monitored around the clock. When your order ships, fragile items are packed with care, and heat-sensitive products travel in insulated packaging with a cold pack to keep them safe in transit. The product that reaches you is the one your provider recommended, handled properly every step of the way.

If something ever goes wrong

Recalls are rare, but if one happens, we move quickly, quarantining affected products and notifying both your provider and any affected patients directly, with clear instructions for returning or safely disposing of the product and getting a full refund. And if you ever have a concern about a product, our Customer Success team logs the details, including the lot number, and works with the brand to look into it. Those reports don't just get filed — they help our Quality Assurance team spot patterns and keep evaluating the brands we carry.
