Extend Whole Person Care to Dependents

Updated on July 17, 2025 | Published on July 7, 2025

  2. Extend Whole Person Care to Dependents

What’s New

Providers can now support dependent children directly in Fullscript under the management of a parent. Streamline workflows and improve health outcomes knowing that parents will be the single point of communication and ensure their child’s plans are followed.

Here’s How it Works

Protect and Promote the Health of Minors:  A Dependent Account is a Fullscript patient account created by a provider and managed by a parent. It allows parents to manage their children’s care under a single account.

Parent-Centered Management: All dependent patient communications, including patient plans,

will be sent to their parent’s email address (Fullscript does not collect email addresses for minors). This gives parents the ability to make informed decisions about their child’s care by allowing them to receive, manage, and fill patient plans until their child turns 18.

Seamless Continuity of Care: On the child’s 18th birthday, the parent will receive an email advising them that they no longer have access to their child’s account. They will be prompted to provide their

18 year old child’s email allowing the child to make decisions on the continuity of their own care. The 18 year old will then have full access to manage their own account – and the parent will no longer have access. Their patient history will be retained in their new account.

Why Did We Build This?

This update brings a secure, provider-led workflow for pediatric care into Fullscript — simplifying how parents manage how their families engage with their wellness.

This Release Helps Providers

Address the Unique Needs of Young Patients:  safely create patient plans for dependents, managed by their parents. Compare similar products with similar ingredients and format (liquid, capsule, chewable, etc) at different price points.

Safely Order Lab Tests for Minors:  choose from both blood and specialty tests, for patients under 18 managed by their parents, directly through Fullscript. In a few cases, labs have set age minimums. Fullscript works with each individual lab partner to verify age restrictions.

This Release Helps Parents

Efficiently Manage their Child’s Care:  one or more dependents can be created using the same parent’s account – no need to switch accounts.

Advocate for their Children:  parents can safely act on their child’s patient plans under the guidance of a provider.

The Bottom Line

Providers can now provide whole-person care to the youngest patients in their practice, managed by their parents. Dependent Accounts give families a safe, smooth, and supportive experience, all within the Fullscript workflow.
