Magnesium bisglycinate chelate is a highly absorbable and bioavailable form of elemental magnesium chelated to two molecules of the amino acid glycine. This product provides 200 mg of magnesium in each 2-tablet serving. It should not cause any of the unfavorable gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms that are sometimes associated with magnesium supplementation due to the very stable chelate formed between two glycine molecules and each magnesium ion via a patented process. Magnesium is an essential mineral that serves as an enzyme cofactor for more than 300 biochemical reactions in the body, including those of glycolysis, the first step in harnessing energy from carbohydrates.
