Betaine HCl is a source hydrochloric acid to aid in the digestion of protein in the stomach. Low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria) is often one of the causes for conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO).
