In-Office Dispensary Case Study: Dr. Franne Berez, ND, MD

The In-Office Dispensary was created from the feedback we received from our practitioners, who wanted a tool that allows them to place orders for patients while the patient is in the office. It is built into your Fullscript practitioner account so you can easily checkout upon writing a prescription for a patient.

Dr. Franne Berez is both a Naturopathic Doctor and a Medical Doctor and has been running an integrative family practice, Squirrel Hill Family Wellness, for over 16 years. Her patients come from all walks of life - some young, some old, some great with technology, and some not so much.

Like many integrative health practitioner, prescribing nutritional supplements is an integral part of her practice and for more than a decade her and her staff had to manage a burgeoning physical dispensary. However, they are proud to say they are now physical dispensary free. Why and how did they make the switch?

BEFORE

Before they began using Fullscript’s In-Office Dispensary, they had to handle inventory management themselves - figuring out what to order, dealing with individual companies, following up & tracking the orders, maintaining the right level of stock, dealing with extra bookkeeping & sales tax, and throwing out expired product. This process was time consuming and costly.

And no matter how good a job they were doing, they often did not have the exact products their patients needed and therefore had to place special orders with suppliers… resulting in extra shipping costs and weeks of wait time until her patients could begin treatment.

AFTER

Once we launched the In-Office Dispensary, the ability to checkout patients on the spot has completely eliminated their physical dispensary.

Now, Dr. Franne Berez writes supplement prescriptions during her appointments, and once the patient comes out to the front desk her staff processes the order. If it is the patient’s first time ordering, it takes just a few minutes and once they are in the system re-ordering is extremely efficient. The order arrives at the patients home within 3 business days and they can begin their treatment right away.

The other great thing about the new system is that patients no longer have to drive to the clinic to re-order when their supply runs out. They can simply re-order themselves through Fullscript, which helps save time for Dr. Berez’s staff.
